Position Summary
Sea Fox Boats is seeking an experienced Lamination QC Technician to join our production team. This position is responsible for inspecting fiberglass lamination work throughout the boat manufacturing process to ensure materials, workmanship, thickness, bonding, and overall construction meet Sea Fox quality standards and production specifications. The ideal candidate has marine manufacturing experience, strong knowledge of fiberglass lamination processes, excellent attention to detail, and takes pride in ensuring a high-quality finished product.
Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect fiberglass lamination work throughout the production process to ensure compliance with production specifications and quality standards.
  • Verify proper application of fiberglass materials, resin, catalysts, and related materials according to specifications.
  • Inspect laminate thickness, coverage, bonding, tabbing, overlaps, and overall workmanship.
  • Identify air pockets, dry spots, resin-rich areas, delamination, improper bonding, voids, and other lamination defects.
  • Perform visual and physical inspections of completed lamination work.
  • Use appropriate measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify workmanship and specifications.
  • Compare completed work against production drawings, work instructions, specifications, and established quality standards.
  • Document quality issues and communicate defects or concerns to production leadership.
  • Work with laminators and production personnel to identify the cause of quality issues and ensure proper corrections are made.
  • Inspect repaired or reworked areas to verify that required corrections have been completed properly.
  • Monitor recurring quality issues and communicate trends or concerns to leadership.
  • Help ensure boats move through production with consistent, high-quality lamination workmanship.
  • Follow established quality control procedures, production processes, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and required quality documentation.
  • Maintain an organized work area and properly care for inspection tools and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with production and quality personnel to maintain workflow and meet production goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in marine manufacturing, boat building, fiberglass production, or a similar marine production environment is required.
  • Previous experience with fiberglass lamination, composite manufacturing, or marine quality control is required.
  • Strong knowledge of fiberglass lamination processes and materials.
  • Ability to identify common fiberglass and lamination defects.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, diagrams, production specifications, and quality standards.
  • Ability to accurately measure and inspect completed work.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to recognize quality issues and communicate them clearly to production personnel and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a production team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to meet production schedules.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a marine manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, fiberglass materials, resins, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be comfortable working inside and around boats during various stages of production.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements required for inspection and quality-control tasks.
  • Must be able to visually inspect detailed fiberglass and composite surfaces.
  • Must follow required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
