The Boat Caulker is responsible for applying marine-grade sealants and caulking materials to joints, seams, and fittings on newly manufactured boats. This position ensures that all caulked areas are watertight, aesthetically clean, and meet durability standards. The ideal candidate has steady hands, attention to detail, and experience working with marine adhesives or sealants.
- Apply caulk and sealants to seams, joints, hatches, windows, deck fittings, and hardware installations according to manufacturing specifications.
- Mask and prep surfaces before applying sealant to ensure clean, professional lines.
- Smooth and tool caulked joints for uniform appearance and performance.
- Remove excess material and clean surfaces after application.
- Inspect and test sealed areas for quality and water resistance.
- Identify and report surface or installation defects that affect seal integrity.
- Work from production schedules and follow layout diagrams, blueprints, or verbal instructions.
- Maintain equipment and tools used for caulking and sealing applications.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and adhesives.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience in caulking, sealing, or marine finishing (boat, RV, construction, or similar industry).
- Familiarity with marine sealants such as Sikaflex, 3M 5200/4200, or silicone-based products.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and read basic schematics or layout drawings.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Physically capable of standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to craftsmanship.
- Boat manufacturing and finishing areas—indoor and outdoor.
- May involve working in tight spaces or elevated areas.
